Crafting Elegance: Open Kitchen Bar with Black Walnut

Updated: Mar 27

We recently found a raw slab for the bar counter in our kitchen, which is quite a challenge to find a good piece. Because while there are many raw woods available, they don't necessarily have an attractive appearance. It's a bit like choosing a gemstone – truly, the perfect find is priceless. We compared different slabs and finally chose American black walnut.

The reason we love this particular slab is its shape that somewhat reveals the bark, its growth rings, and the balanced coloration, as well as the visible natural growth patterns.

The entire American black walnut slab measures 160x57x6 cm:

The bar counter in front of the kitchen will look something like this:

We will purchase these lights to suspend above the black walnut raw wood table.

When the light is turned on, the bulb is visible, and when it's not in use, it can serve as a decorative piece, Such decor is very suitable for us who are into jewelry design. One of the smallest crystal pendant lights will be placed in the living room; I particularly like this pendant light becos of its freeform design.

Recently, we have taken down the walls, and after demolishing them, the entire space feels more expansive:

We plan to combine the knocked-down walls into a mix of faux stone and complete wall surfaces. I don't know if we will do a good job, but if it's not done well, it will look very bad.

We also need to change all the cabinets in the kitchen to different colors, there's a lot to do.

If we can't manage it... then we'll have to change the plan 😂
